Inside Official Streak and ghost duels

How a run begins, how opponents are selected and why a ghost stores performance without storing the requested side.

The full Official Streak flow, from the first server-generated ghost to elimination and leaderboard status.

01

What happens on the first duel

A new player cannot be matched against their own history because none exists yet. The server can open the trail with a seeded frontier ghost: a valid opponent profile created for the beginning of the ladder. After players record legitimate performances, the matching pool increasingly uses those named records.

Starting a run creates one active life. Winning keeps that run alive and requests another opponent; losing marks it fallen and records who ended it. There is no weekly start limit, but every new run uses the entry amount shown before matchmaking begins.

02

A ghost is not a prerecorded answer

The opponent record represents validated reaction performance and fault state. It does not tell the current game to request left or right. A new side is drawn for every live duel, so studying a previous encounter cannot reveal which control will be correct next.

This separation also lets named performances compete without requiring both people to be online simultaneously. The server owns the run, opponent assignment and resolution, while the browser performs the visible duel and submits the current valid result.

03

Progressive matching and public status

Early wins search for accessible opponents. As a run grows, matching can select stronger recorded performance so the surviving group becomes more demanding. The opponent alias remains visible during the encounter and in the fallen result, giving the elimination an understandable source.

The leaderboard distinguishes a current living run from a completed fallen run. Best streak preserves the highest verified sequence even after elimination. Reaction records and story scores remain separate rankings because they measure different achievements.
